Jade Coats, OD, FAAO

Jade Coats, OD, FAAO is a distinguished optometrist known for her expertise in ocular disease, perioperative care, contact lenses, and comprehensive eye care, with a special focus on the ocular surface, dry eye disease, and premium cataract/refractive surgery co-management. An honors graduate of the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, she went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree magna cum laude from the Southern College of Optometry, where she received numerous clinical awards and scholarships at the local, state, and national levels.

Dr. Coats practices in an OD/MD setting, where she combines advanced clinical care with compassionate patient management. She has been recognized as a Contact Lens Institute Visionary in 2023 and 2024 for her contributions to contact lens advancements and patient education.

An influential voice in the profession, Dr. Coats serves on the boards of Women in Optometry, YoungODConnect, and the Arkansas Optometric Association. She is a graduate of the American Optometric Association’s Leadership Institute 1.0 and 2.0 programs and actively contributes to the optometric community as a speaker, writer, and consultant. Her extensive publication credits include articles in Review of Optometry, Optometry Times, Modern Optometry, Optometric Management, and Presbyopia Physician, among others.

Dr. Coats collaborates as a speaker and advisory board member with leading industry partners, including Abbvie, Allergan, Bausch & Lomb, Dompe, Harrow, Novaliq, Orasis, Oyster Point, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Tarsus, Thea, Trukera, Viatris, and Zeiss. She is also a dedicated board member of the Intrepid Eye Society, where she previously chaired social media and branding initiatives and now serves as membership chair.

Beyond optometry, Dr. Coats is deeply committed to her community. She serves on the Board of Directors for Hope Cancer Resources and Circle of Life Hospice and co-founded Caton’s Cubs, a non-profit supporting pediatric hospice care through Arkansas Hospice. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling the world, scuba diving, cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks, and volunteering locally.
