Chandra Mickles, OD, MS, FAAO, FSLS
Chandra Mickles, OD, MS, FAAO, FSLS is an associate professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSUCO). She is the Director of the Dry Eye Care Center, instructor of record of the Contact Lens course, and an attending in NSUCO’s Contact Lens Service. Dr. Mickles received her optometry degree from SUNY State College of Optometry, graduating in the top ten of her class. She completed a Cornea and Contact Lens residency and a post-residency research fellowship at UAB School of Optometry and the Birmingham VA, respectively.
Dr. Mickles is a recognized key opinion leader. She is a speaker and consultant for companies such as Alcon, Johnson & Johnson Vision, and Sun Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Mickles lectures extensively and has authored several publications including a chapter in Bennett and Henry’s Clinical Manual of Contact Lenses textbook. She also serves on the National Optometric Association Board of Directors.
Dr. Mickles has been recognized by the Association of Contact Lens Educators with a New Educator Award and Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry as a Professor of the Year, two years consequentially. In 2018, she was named a “Top Black Educator in South Florida.” Dr. Mickles has also been featured in The Miami Herald, The Sun Sentinel, and ABC news.
