Jacqueline Theis, OD, FAAO
Dr. Theis completed both her optometric and residency training in neuro-optometry and binocular vision at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry (UCBSO). She is a previous Assistant Clinical Professor and the founding Chief of the UC Berkeley Sports Vision and Concussion Clinic where she treated patients and performed clinical research in post-concussive oculomotor dysfunction. Dr. Theis has both clinical inpatient and outpatient hospital experience treating patients with vision problems after traumatic brain injury, stroke, and neurological disorders including photophobia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and myasthenia gravis. She is internationally recognized as a clinician, leader, researcher, and lecturer in her field and was awarded the Young Optometrist of the Year in California in 2019 and Young Optometrist of the Year in Virginia in 2022.
Currently, Dr. Theis performs clinical research with multiple universities and treats patients at her practice Virginia Neuro-Optometry, located at the Concussion Care Centre of Virginia, which is a multidisciplinary brain injury practice in Richmond, VA. Dr. Theis is actively involved in the AOA Vision Rehabilitation and Evidence-Based Optometry committees and is on the Board for the Virginia Optometric Association. She serves as a subject matter expert for visual dysfunction in traumatic brain injury, is a peer reviewer for multiple journals, and currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University, School of Medicine.
